Bundle Pass sales and expiry
What happens when someone buys, how they can pay, what existing subscribers see, and what happens at expiry.
What happens when someone buys a Bundle Pass?
A few things happen at once. The buyer pays one time, and that's it. There's no subscription for them to cancel.
In Stripe, each collaborator's share goes to their own connected Stripe account. More on how and when you get paid.
In Trustfnd, each collaborator sees a new sign-up, and the revenue is added to their total.
In Ghost, the buyer is added as a complimentary member with access to your paid content for as long as the Pass lasts.
In Beehiiv, the buyer is added on a tier called Trustfnd Bundle Access. It's a copy of the tier you offered, created by us, without a price. Please don't delete it.
In Steady, paid access is upgraded manually after each purchase, via your partner dashboard CSV.
Buyers are also labelled in Ghost and Beehiiv, so you can segment them. See the labels.
How can audiences pay?
By card. For bundles priced in euros, buyers can also pay with iDEAL | Wero.
What if a buyer already subscribes to one of the publications?
They get an adjusted bundle. Nobody pays twice for something they already have.
At checkout, we check whether the buyer already subscribes to any publication in the bundle. If they do:
That publication is marked (already subscribed) and left out of their bundle.
The price drops accordingly. The buyer sees a short Bundle adjusted note that explains why.
They get access to the remaining publications.
So your existing subscribers can't buy a Bundle Pass for your own publication, but they can still discover your collaborators through it.
What happens when a Bundle Pass expires?
The Pass holder loses access to your paid content but stays on your list as a free subscriber. In Ghost and Beehiiv, they're moved back to the free tier automatically.
Around the expiry date:
About 5 days before, we add the label
Trustfnd_expires_in_five_days.Once the Pass has ended, we add
Trustfnd_expired_bundle_pass.If you've added an Upgrade offer, we email the Pass holder your offer.
This is your moment. If they enjoyed your journalism, make them an offer. The easiest way is an Upgrade offer: add it once and we send the emails for you.
Prefer to send your own emails? Use the labels to build a segment in Ghost or Beehiiv. Just make sure Pass holders don't get two overlapping offers.
What if a buyer contacts me for support?
Send them to us. That's what we're here for.
If someone writes to you about a Bundle Pass purchase (you can recognise Bundle Pass customers by their labels), point them to support@trustfnd.com. They can expect a reply within a day.
